Impress with this quick and delicious scone recipe!

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups of Flour

  • 3 Tablespoons Granulated Sugar

  • 2 Tablespoons Baking Powder

  • 3/4 Teaspoon Salt

  • 1/2 Cup Butter

  • 1/2 Cup Buttermilk

  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla

  • 2 Eggs

  • 3/4 cup blueberries or chocolate chips

  • Sanding Sugar

1 - Scones

2 - Frosting

  • 1 Lemon or 1 1/2 Tablespoon Milk

  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla

  • 2/3 Cup Powdered Sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees and put parchment paper on baking sheet.

  2. Put 2 cups of flour, 3 Tablespoons granulated sugar, 2 Tablespoons baking powder, and 3/4 teaspoon salt into bowl. 

  3. Cube 1/2 cup of butter and cut into dry ingredients with pastry cutter or put in stand mixer with stir setting until crumbly and put in refrigerator.

  4. Whisk together 1/2 cup buttermilk, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 1 egg.

  5. Take bowl out of refrigerator and mix the wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients with a fork until wet crumbly mixture forms.

  6. Put a few tablespoons of flour on the counter and knead just enough to form into dough. 

  7. Mix in 3/4 cup of blueberries or chocolate chips at this time. I like to split in half and do half blueberry and half chocolate chip! Mmm! 

  8. Pat dough down to 1 inch thick.

  9. Cut into 8-12 wedges and place them onto baking sheet from step 1.

  10. Whisk an egg for the egg wash and brush over scones.

  11. Sprinkle with sanding sugar.

  12. Bake for 22 minutes at 375 degrees.

  13. Mix Frosting together

    1. For Vanilla Frosting: Mix 2/3 cup of powdered sugar with 1 1/2 Tablespoon milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

    2. For Lemon Frosting: Mix 2/3 cup of powdered sugar with 2 Tablespoons lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of lemon zest. 

  14. Add secret ingredient.. Love

  15. Enjoy!
